Valentina and Kostadin Momchilov were born in Bulgaria during the communist regime. They didn’t have freedom of speech or many other rights but they raised their children encouraging freedom of thought and dreams that transcended all boundaries. My parents completely supported my decision to come to the US to pursue my dream of becoming a professional musician in 1995, even though I was still a child at the time. Living away from them has been heartbreaking but they have made it possible for me to have a life where dreams come true. I was proud to become a US citizen in 2013 and hope that we can soon be reunited, in the United States!
