The Mundal Family

My great grandparents were from Mundal, Norway. Jens worked the farmsteads and Maria worked as a servant. There were few opportunities for employment other than to farm other people’s land or to serve in someone else’s home. With limited options, three small children, and one on the way, they boarded a ship in 1910 bound for America, and eventually settled in Minnesota. They had nine children, who were afforded a wealth of opportunity to prosper in an emerging country. They worked in the lumber mills and peony nurseries, raised families, and served in WWII. They even farmed their very own land.
